Killyclogher centenarian raises £2,321 for Marie Curie

Annie celebrated the special milestone with family and friends
A KILLYCLOGHER woman celebrating her 100th birthday has made her milestone occasion even more special by raising an impressive £2,321 for Marie Curie. Annie Kelly recently marked her remarkable centenary surrounded by family and friends, with the celebrations combining a special thanksgiving Mass, a joyful gathering and a generous show of community spirit. The celebrations began with Mass in St Mary’s Church before family and friends came together at the Village Inn to celebrate Annie’s incredible milestone. Rather than receiving presents, Annie asked well-wishers to make donations to Marie Curie, the charity which provides vital care and support to people living with a terminal illness and their families. Her thoughtful request was met with an overwhelming response, with an outstanding total of £2,321 raised for the charity. Moira McCallion, expressing her delight and sincere gratitude on behalf of Marie Curie, congratulated Annie on reaching the wonderful milestone of her 100th birthday and thanked everyone who contributed to the fundraising effort. The money raised will remain in the local area, helping Marie Curie provide critical palliative care and support to terminally ill people and their loved ones when they need it most. Annie’s birthday celebration has therefore become a fitting tribute not only to a remarkable life but also to her generosity and thoughtfulness towards others. The Kelly family extended their heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated to Annie’s chosen charity and helped make her special birthday such a memorable occasion. The £2,321 raised is a wonderful legacy of Annie’s centenary celebrations, demonstrating how one special birthday can make a real difference to families facing some of life’s most difficult challenges.
