Talks are ongoing into the future development of the St Lucia Barracks site

SINN Féin MP for West Tyrone, Órfhlaith Begley, has welcomed the opportunity to facilitate a meeting between Omagh Enterprise, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins and Economy Minister Caoimhe Archibald, to discuss the future development of the St Lucia Barracks site in Omagh.

“St Lucia Barracks is one of Omagh’s most significant historic assets, yet it remains one of the town’s most underutilised commercial sites. There is enormous potential to transform this site into a vibrant hub for enterprise, investment and regeneration.

“I welcome the vision put forward by Omagh Enterprise to develop an Innovation Quarter, supporting enterprise, commercial activity, housing, hospitality and public space.

“Through a phased model of public and private partnership, this project has the potential to breathe new life into the historic buildings at St Lucia, create new opportunities for local people and make a significant contribution to the economic and social regeneration of Omagh,.” said Ms Begley.

She added: “At a time when vacant and underutilised sites remain a challenge for our town, the redevelopment of St Lucia could be a symbolic and practical step towards building a stronger, more vibrant local economy.

“Omagh Enterprise Company is now inviting expressions of interest from developers, investors and potential partners, with submissions closing at 12 noon on Tuesday 20 October 2026. I would encourage interested parties to engage with this process and help shape the future of this important site.”

The West Tyrone MP added she would continue to work constructively with Omagh Enterprise, the relevant Ministers and all stakeholders to help realise the potential of St Lucia Barracks.

“This is an important opportunity to attract investment, support jobs, deliver much-needed housing and create lasting benefits for Omagh and the wider West Tyrone area,” she said.
