One of the most prestigious pedigree cattle shows in the county returns at the end of this month as the ‘Fermanagh Stars’ Multi-Breed Calf Show organised by Fermanagh Pedigree Livestock Breeders Ltd takes place this coming Saturday, October 31, in the Exhibition Hall at the Ulster Farmers’ Mart, Enniskillen.

The show will take a similar format to last year with entries open to all calves born on or after July 1, 2025. A total of 35 classes will be held from 11am right through into the afternoon with the climax being the judging of the Overall Pedigree Calf Champion.

Classes will be held for junior and senior Native and Continental male and female calves as well as for commercial cattle.

The judge this year is Eddie Lynch, a well-known breeder and cattle judge from Co. Cavan.

Entries for any of the classes are open to anyone. Fermanagh Pedigree Livestock Breeders members can enter at a cost of £10 while non-members will be charged £50 for the first entry and £10 for subsequent entries. Commercial entries and entries for pairs are priced at £10.

There is a prize fund of over £5,000 with generous sponsorship from a wide variety of agricultural and animal health companies in the locality.

One of the highlights on the day will be the presentation of a trophy donated by the Stubbs family in memory of Violet Stubbs, to be awarded to the winner of the Overall Pedigree Calf Championship.

The show will be a great opportunity to see the next generation of pedigree stock from local herds which will have great potential for the future. Some of last year’s prizewinning calves went on to excel at agricultural shows and breed shows and sales.

Parking and refreshment facilities will be available at the Ulster Farmers’ Mart throughout the day.
