Glenhoy PW held their visitors' meeting in the form of a coffee morning in Glenageeragh Hall

On Saturday, October 17, Glenhoy PW held their visitors' meeting in the form of a coffee morning in Glenageeragh Hall at 11am. Mrs Lorna Robinson welcomed all and gave a special welcome to the guest speaker, Sister Thelma Graham, who works as part of the Palliative Care Team in Omagh Hospital and Primary Care Complex.

Tables in the hall were tastefully laid with white tablecloths, pretty poises and cake stands with a selection of delicious tray bakes, cakes and scones. Grace was said by Mrs Joanne Frazer, then tea and coffee were served, and the ladies enjoyed a catch-up with each other. Thelma then spoke of her career in nursing and now her role in the Palliative Care Ward, where specialist end-of-life care and symptom management is given to patients with cancer and non-cancerous diagnoses. The nursing staff provide nursing care, kindness, comfort and compassion to patients and family members. Care is given in a relaxed, quiet and homely environment, with pet-friendly visiting policies.

At the end of the talk, the ladies had the chance to ask questions. Mrs Yvonne Mulligan thanked Thelma for coming along to share this essential community service with the ladies. A voluntary donation to the Palliative Care Ward was optional at the end of the meeting, and an excellent amount of £700 was raised; this will be used to purchase items for the ward.

Glenhoy PW would like to thank all who attended and for their generosity.
