The Strule Arts Centre in Omagh will be transformed by a series of symbolic illuminations throughout November

The Strule Arts Centre in Omagh will be transformed by a series of symbolic illuminations throughout November, with different colours highlighting important awareness campaigns, commemorative occasions and causes affecting communities across the district.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will illuminate the town centre landmark from 6pm to midnight on six occasions during the month, using colour to show support for a range of issues, from financial wellbeing and kindness to animal welfare, men's mental health and international solidarity.

The programme began on Monday, November 2, when the Strule Arts Centre turned blue in support of Talk Money Week, a national campaign encouraging people to have more open and honest conversations about money.

Residents were encouraged to take part in a free online event yesterday, Tuesday, November 3, bringing together experts from financial, public and community sectors to offer trusted advice and practical guidance.

Today, Wednesday, November 4, the building will turn pink in support of Queen's University Belfast Walkie Talkie Girlies Society's Project Pink 3.0.

The award-winning initiative has spent the past two years raising awareness of violence against women and girls, with the pink illumination representing solidarity with women and students affected by the issue.

Blue will return to the Strule Arts Centre on Thursday, November 12, to mark the 190th anniversary of the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (USPCA).

Founded in 1836, the USPCA is the world's second-oldest animal welfare charity, and the anniversary will be recognised through special events celebrating almost two centuries of work protecting and caring for animals.

The following day, Friday, November 13, the building will be illuminated red for World Kindness Day.

The gesture will recognise the Promises of Kindness Initiative, which saw more than 9,500 Promises of Kindness cards distributed across the island of Ireland in June 2026. The illumination will celebrate that collective achievement while encouraging people to continue putting kindness into practice in their everyday lives.

On Thursday, November 19, the Strule Arts Centre will once again shine blue to mark International Men's Day.

The annual observance celebrates the positive contributions and achievements of men and boys while highlighting issues affecting their health, wellbeing and equality. The illumination aims to encourage greater understanding and more open conversations around men's mental health and wellbeing, and the importance of seeking support when needed.

The November programme concludes on Sunday, November 29, when the building will be illuminated red for the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

The symbolic gesture will acknowledge the humanitarian challenges facing Palestinian communities and highlight the importance of dignity, human rights, peace and self-determination.

The monthly illuminations provide a highly visible reminder of the many causes and issues that affect people locally and internationally, with the Strule Arts Centre once again serving as a focal point for community awareness and solidarity.

Further information is available through the Charity Support section of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council's website, www.fermanaghomagh.com, or by contacting the Community Services team on 0300 303 1777 or emailing [email protected].

Meanwhile, in Enniskillen, the council will also illuminate Enniskillen Castle in the same symbolic colours and on the same dates throughout November, supporting each of the six awareness campaigns and commemorative occasions.
