Storm Boelo disrupts football fixtures

THE Fermanagh and Western Football League was almost entirely wiped out due to the disruption of Storm Boelo.

The Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning on Saturday as the storm brought strong winds and heavy rain to the region.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council had closed its playing pitches due to the forecasted weather and only a handful of games proceeded.

Dunbreen Rovers produced an impressive performance in Division Three, recording a convincing 6-1 victory over Fintona Swifts.

The result means Rovers remain at the summit on a maximum 21 points in the first seven games of the campaign.

St Patricks Castlederg also enjoyed an away-day success, defeating Mountfield 3-1.

The result gives St Patricks a valuable three points, and they sit second on 15 points, having played a game more than the leaders.

In Reserve Division One, Magheraveely Reserves claimed a strong 5-2 win over Ardstraw Reserves in an entertaining encounter.
